Funnier By The Lake Comedy returns to Madame Zuzu’s brand new, larger venue! The ONLY live stand up comedy in Highland Park. This month’s showcase includes:

HOST:
Lia Berman

Lia Berman has an affinity for Goldfish crackers. When she is not snacking on the salty cheese she craves, she is hosting her Podcast, The Parental Advisory Podcast, hosting her open mic at the Logan Theatre in Chicago, performing comedy, working a 9-5 and raising her 5 year old son. For the love of Pete, give the girl more Goldfish crackers! She hails from outside of Boston Ma, and finds the accent soothing. Follow along with Lia’s adventures in parenting and comedy @liaberman3.

Tom Filline
Tom Filline is a stand-up comedian who also teaches elementary school on the side! He enjoys telling jokes on stage as often as possible. Tom has been featured at Zanies Rosemont and Zanies Chicago as well as The Comedy Shrine in Aurora, IL where he is a house emcee and producer. Whether you’re looking for family friendly comedy or “R-rated” material, Tom brings the funny to the show.

Mike Hover
Mike Hover is proud to be a nerd. He wasn’t the high school quarterback.  He knows nothing about sports. What he does know is all things pop culture. His act is a spastic mishmash of topics from Nintendo to ghosts to Elvis impersonators to ice cream trucks, time travel and Harry Potter. And he knows how to make people laugh.

Mike graduated from the Second City Conservatory and has traveled throughout the United States, plying his stand up at clubs, casinos and festivals, as well as in Paris and London.

He’s performed at the Sacramento Comedy Festival, Ventura Comedy Festival, Milwaukee Comedy Festival, Gilda’s Laughfest, and Chicago Nerd Comedy Festival. Mike has also shared the stage with a wide range of comedians. Mike was a finalist in the “Best Comedian” category for The Chicago Readers “Best of 2019” list. As an actor, Mike has appeared on the SyFy Channel/Netflix original “Age of Dinosaurs” and “The Wanda Sykes Show” on FOX. He also filmed a pilot for TruTV entitled, “How to be a Grown Up”.

His recently released album, “Hoverdrive” debuted at #2 on the iTunes comedy charts.

HEADLINER:
Adam Burke
Adam Burke began his start-up comedy career after his research for an article on the Chicago stand-up comedy scene for Chicago Social magazine led him to do an open mike night himself. His influences include Spike Milligan, Bill Hicks and Steve Martin.

Burke was voted Best Standup by readers of The Chicago Reader in 2014 and won Second City’s Up Next Comedy Competition.

He has performed in comedy festivals such as the Bridgetown Comedy Festival in Portland Oregon, Just for Laughs Chicago, and Funny Or Die’s Oddball Comedy Festival. He has opened for comedians including Marc Maron, Jeff Ross, Hannibal Burress, John Mulaney, Hari Kondabolu, Maria Bamford, Michael Ian Black, Kumail Nanjiani, John Oliver, Tracy Morgan and Aziz Ansari.

Burke is a frequent on-air panelist for the popular NPR show, Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me!
